As automotive architectures evolved, they aimed to optimize software development for efficiency, scalability and standardization. The customer needed a solution that could streamline development, standardize signal transmission across vehicle models and accelerate testing and validation – a challenge that called for a strong technology partner. That's where ETAS stepped in.

The solution

ETAS introduced a scalable solution to streamline the customer’s software development. At its core, the COVASA Vehicle Signal Specification (VSS) Standard enabled seamless CAN signal mapping, eliminating redundant work and improving efficiency. The ETAS Vehicle Software Platform Suite enabled them to standardize software components across different models reducing development time and complexity while ensuring a stable, reusable framework. This allowed our customer to innovate faster without constant redevelopment. To enhance reliability, ETAS optimized the simulation and self-testing toolchain, enabling early issue detection and reducing costly late-stage fixes. Beyond technology, ETAS fostered seamless collaboration by installing a global team across four global locations, overcoming time zone challenges working closely with our customer. Additionally, ETAS trained his engineers, equipping them to maximize the toolchain’s long-term impact.

The results

The transformation was significant. Our customer accelerated development from Quality Gate 0 in May to Quality Gates 1-3 by December - achieving in just eight months, what previously took much longer.

Standardization through the ETAS Vehicle Software Platform Suite reached 50%, driving massive efficiency gains.

With a scalable foundation, the customer reduced time-to-market and long-term costs. Development cycles became faster, validation improved, and cross-domain communication was streamlined, ensuring a more agile and robust software ecosystem.
